John Northrup incorporated J.D. Northrup Construction, Inc. in 1974. The same year Thomas Reed joined the company. Tom has become the General Manager in charge of all of the company's operations.

J.D. Northrup Construction is a member of NUCA, the National Utility Contractors Association and the Ellicottville Chamber of Commerce.

Safety is a primary goal and concern of the company. They were awarded a national safety award by NUCA in 1998.
